The History of Lake Holcombe Marina

Lake Holcombe Marina was established in 1983 by Aron and Karen Cote. Aron started working on small engines in his father's carpenter shop part-time during high school and college.  After graduating from college, Aron returned to Holcombe to start his new business.

Aron started working on marine engines full time in the spring of 1983. Starting with a service franchise from Mercury Marine, Aron received factory training and began working.  The first year of business included a small accessories store, dockage, and small service center. Due to a rapid growth in business, Karen discontinued her job at Mount Senario College in 1988 to join Aron full time at the marina.

Growth of the marina continued during the late 80s and 90s with several new employees and the addition of Daka docks, Bennington pontoons, Sylvan boats, and a full-line accessories store. Starting as small service facility, the philosophy of Lake Holcombe Marina and its owners has always been focused on customer service. Sales are important, but customer service is foremost!

Presently the marina is still owned by the Cote family.  Aron still works as a certified technician in the shop as well as overseeing the everyday operations of the marina, including parts and service.  Andy Christianson, Aron's cousin, is the General and Sales Manager.  The marina also employs a part time book keeper, three full time technicians and several part time riggers and delivery personnel. Aron's daughter Clarice also works at the marina during the summer.  Future plans for growth include starting plans for a new facility within the next ten years. Lake Holcombe Marina still remains the only full service marina on Lake Holcombe.
